Mount Charleston is a mountain community only 18 miles from Las Vegas in the Toiyabe National Forest. The community is named after the third largest peak in Nevada that overlooks the community, Mt. Charleston. The name "Charleston" was given to the peak by John C. Fremont while he was exploring this portion of Southern Nevada. The name refers to Charleston, South Carolina, which was Fremont's wife's hometown.
Mt. Charleston's homes are at the elevation between 7,000-9,500 feet. It's a perfect community to feel like rural mountain living but you are really only 30 minutes from Las Vegas. Homes in Mt. Charleston vary they can be small cabins, chalets or even luxury homes.
